Texas A&M University, 12/14/2018
Andrea Wendling of Altamont will graduate from Texas A&M University, College Station,
Texas, on December 14, 2018, with a Bachelor degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences.
She has been selected as the “Student Voice” to offer an expression of appreciation on behalf
of the Class of 2019 for her Commencement Ceremony.
As a university with a strong legacy of
tradition and service to school, state, and nation, Texas A&M, unlike most universities,
have student commencement speakers instead of a distinguished alumnus or professionals.
She submitted an example of her speech and was one of 4 selected to speak at a ceremony
from the many who applied. She will be a part of the ceremony along the President of
the university and will provide her personal expression of appreciation at the beginning
of the graduation ceremony. She will be the first from her major to ever fill the role as
student commencement speaker. She will address the thousands who will be in attendance
along with her fellow graduates. Parents are Tom and Diana Wendling. Andrea was a 2015
graduate of Altamont Community High School.
