Congratulations to Dallas Michael Russell, the 2010 recipient of the American Indian Chamber of
Commerce of Texas' Lou Moller Scholarship of Achievement. Dallas lives in Mission, TX, and is the son of Mike and
Betty Russell and brother of Dillon Russell.
The Lou Moller Scholarship was set up on behalf
of Lou Moller and Rich Heape Films to support Native American students in Texas.
Rich-Heape Films, Inc., founded by Steven Heape and Chip Richie, produce award-winning films which encourage awareness of Native Peoples
and preserve the history and culture of the different communities of American Indians.
The recipients of the
scholarship have demonstrated excellence in working to better the lives of Native Americans in their
community and an intent to continue helping the American Indian Community through their higher
ed degree. Dallas Russell has demonstrated leadership and a life-long committment to educating
the public about Native American dance, song, and pow-wow traditions in demonstrations and at pow-wows.
Dallas will be attending the University of
Texas-Pan American in Edinburg , TX, where he will major in Computer Information Systems.
Dallas has expressed the desire to help the American Indian community better use and understand
computer-based technology using the education he will acquire at UT-PA.
