We were welcomed by local poet, Jorge Chaccourt Guedea, who apologized on behalf of the townspeople for actions taken in the past.
Vice-Chairman Robert Soto's response to Jorge, which was a song he wrote,
and Robert and Bernard presenting gifts to Jorge. Chairman Bernard Barcena then
remarks about the sacred connection between the Lipan people,
the town of Zaragosa (Coahuila) and especially the town of Muzquiz (Coahuila).

...Recently myself, Robert Soto and Juan Solis represented the
Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas in a cultural exchange with the
State of Coahuila and the Federal Government of Mexico. The
conference was held January 9-10, 2009 in Musquiz,
Coahuila Mexico....

...The Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas was deeply honored to be invited to return
to lands which have always held great spiritual significance,
the lands of our grandmothers and grandfathers, and feel confident
that this trip marks the beginning of the re-establishment of a strong
and enduring relationship with the people of Mexico.

....Last weekend, some of the descendants of
this tribe met again in the Coal Region at an event where they
shared their culture. They did this with dances and talks about
their views on religion and family organization as well as by
telling stories about their genocide in a story called
"The Night of Remolino." ...
