Coahuila, Mexico Welcomes the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas
David and Nancy Minor
document the travel and event in three videos.

We were welcomed by local poet, Jorge Chaccourt Guedea, who apologized on behalf of the townspeople for actions taken in the past. Vice-Chairman Robert Soto's response to Jorge, which was a song he wrote, and Robert and Bernard presenting gifts to Jorge. Chairman Bernard Barcena then remarks about the sacred connection between the Lipan people, the town of Zaragosa (Coahuila) and especially the town of Muzquiz (Coahuila).

On January 9, 2009, representatives of the General Council of the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas traveled to Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico for a Native American conference. This video shows the central plaza in Muzquiz. The church has bullet holes still visible from the last battle in the 1870's between the townspeople and the Lipan Apaches.

This video was taken in front of the House of Culture where the cultural exchange was held. It shows the Santa Rosa mountains of Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico, where Lipan Apaches camped and where Lipans remain to this day.
