Cambridge Who’s Who Names Raquel A. Monday
Professional of the Year in Arts, Media & Entertainment!

Ms. Monday celebrates her culture through visual arts and literature

FAYETTEVILLE, GA, November 4, 2011, Raquel Monday, Author, Poet, Freelance Visual Artist of Art by Monday, has been named a Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Arts, Media & Entertainment. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who’s Who membership.

As an author, poet and freelance visual artist, Ms. Monday experiments with genre-bending literature and poetry in addition to her more conventional work with fictional novels and visual arts including faux stain glass and canvas painting. The author of three books, she is currently at work on her fourth and fifth books, a paranormal suspense novel inspired by true events, entitled 'The Fourteenth Floor' and a sequel to `The Singing Princess`, a children’s fairy tale entitled, `The Adventures of Spin and Spun in The Land of Never-Ever`. Ms. Monday's poetry has been published internationally, both in the United States and the United Kingdom. Raised in the desert southwest region of the United States, Ms. Monday is of Hispanic and Native American descent. She holds close ties to her native people and helps to bridge the gap between them by translating their English website, http://www.lipanapache.org, into Spanish, and assisting in whatever other capacity is needed. Ms. Monday’s books, 'Sandstorms and Sunsets,' 'The Singing Princess,' and 'Faceless People,' are currently available through online retailers or her own website, listed below. All books ordered through her website receive a complimentary author’s signature.

The Lipan Apache tribe was once thought to no longer exist. Their history was erased from the history books and no mention of them was made of aiding the Texans at the Alamo or protecting Mexico's freedom from Spain. To ensure the survival of their people, they had to assimilate into the American or Hispanic cultures. This meant they had to learn the language, ways, customs, and dress; they were being hunted down by both sides, American and Mexican, for possession of their land. 171 years later, the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas received state recognition by the same state that denied their existence on March 18, 2009, which was indeed, a grand victory for the tribe. Ms. Monday's grandfather was a full-blood Lipan Apache. Her mother repeated his oral history to her several times throughout her life before passing away in 2001, and would always end her stories with the phrase, 'No se te olvide,' which means, 'Don't forget.' Ms. Monday never forgot and is now an active member of the tribe. She has been referred to by the tribe's chairman as 'one who carries the word portrait,' in reference to her writing abilities.

Ms. Monday has received various technical trade diplomas in the course of her career. She is a former Certified Pharmacy/IV Technician, 911 Operator, Law Enforcement Records Specialist and a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, the Georgia Writers Association, the Southern Breeze Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, the Poetry Society of America, and the International Society of Poets. As a testament to her skill and craftsmanship, she is a two-time recipient of the Golden Poet Award, among many other awards and distinctions. Looking ahead, Ms. Monday hopes to gain more exposure and recognition as a published author, and have her artwork displayed in national art galleries.
