TO: All SUBJECT: Planning session for Lipan Apache Tribe Museum and Cultural Center WHEN: Proposed date July 11th at 11 AM WHERE: Sunrise Mall in Corpus Christi at the Museum Offices PURPOSE: To discuss final plans on display designs and Tribal office set up. We have completed negotiations on lease space at Sunrise Mall for a 2,000 square foot facility to house our offices, Tribal Museum and Tribal store. There will be discussion on how to set up an online store for Lipan artists. Lease rate will be $0.00 per square foot, no common area fees, and no trash pick up fees. We will be responsible for electrical costs and maintanance on all mechanicals. The final point to negotiate is property tax, which could run about $100.00 per month. All in all, a high profile space for free is not a bad deal. The Tribal store will market merchandise with the Tribal Shield with all profits going in the Tribe's General fund to cover Museum operating expense and salaries for the office manager and genealogist. We can not sell any other Native items because it would compete with our friends at Kokopelli's. The July 11th meeting will cover the message the Lipan Apache want to project and the methods for display to support that message. This will be a workshop forum and not a regularly scheduled meeting. We will also discuss methods to raise the funds necessary to complete the project. Robert has offered to build a wiki up in the middle of the Museum. I have asked him to leave the buffalo outside. We have quite a bit already mapped out, but are looking for more ideas and input. Please e-mail me with any ideas or suggestions. Your thoughts are very important, so please don't be shy. Some items we will need are: Two computers with XP One high speed laser printer One color printer Copier Three each four drawer filing cabinets Auto doc feed scanner Adobe reader/write software 6.0 or better Microsoft office works with Excel & Word One DVD player One 32" or better TV Amplifier and CD player with six speakers Some of the labor we need are: Seamstresses with curtain making skill Artists to paint original works depicting historic scenes Please remember this most important point. We are still waiting on the lease and for the General Council to approve it. We are 99.9 per cent certain the lease will be executed and the Tribe will have a place to call home. | |
