Steps needed to be considered for certification of membership in the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas.

1)

Submit application.
You must apply first and be accepted before a card and certificate can be issued. You, as the applicant, are responsible for completing the necessary forms and turning in a complete genealogy that factually purports you to be of Lipan Apache descent.

If you have applied, please e-mail applications@lipanapache.org with your full name and date of application for status of your application. Please allow at least 6 weeks after applying before contacting the Tribe. For a family's status, please include the full names of all family members. Once approved, you will be noticed via e-mail of all the requisite information to receive the Tribal ID card and Certificate.


3)

If you have applied and a deficiency in verifying your genealogy is discovered, you will be notified of the deficiency and the additional requirements needed.


4)

If you have applied and your application has been denied, you will be noticed of the appeal process in accordance with the Tribal by laws.


5)

If your application has been approved, you will be issued a Tribal Certificate and receive notice of the requisite steps to secure your Tribal ID card and certificate as well as the benefits associated with being a Tribal member. (Newsletter, education grant applications when these grants are available, and any other privilege of membership as they become available)


ONLY once your membership has been accepted, you may apply for a tribal ID card. Go to Tribal ID Application Form for instructions.

Enrollment Closed


     As of October 15, 2011, enrollment is closed for new families. You may apply ONLY if you already have a DIRECT BLOOD RELATIVE who is a confirmed member of the tribe. A direct blood relative is a grandparent, parent, child, sibling, first aunt or uncle, grandchild, or a very, very close cousin. In other words, this DIRECT BLOOD RELATIVE has been confirmed by the General Council as a member and has a membership number.

DO NOT apply unless you meet the above criteria.
