Command Sergeant Major

      Command Sergeant Major Frank M. Leota is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He entered the U.S. Army in June 1980. CSM Leota attended One Stop Unit Training and Basic Airborne Training at Fort Benning, Ga.

      CSM Leota has served in various leadership positions. Positions he has held include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Anti-Armor Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Scout Platoon Sergeant, Army Recruiter, Station Commander, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major.

      His assignments throughout his military career include the 3rd Battalion, 5th Infantry Division (Airborne), Republic of Panama; 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C.; 2nd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment (Airborne), Republic of Panama; Baltimore Recruiting Battalion, Baltimore Md.; 1st Battalion, 505th PIR, Fort Bragg; 4th Battalion, 13th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Fort Jackson, S.C.; 2nd Battalion, 60th IBCT, Fort Jackson; 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas; 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment (Stryker) Fort Lewis, Wash.; 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks; and as the Command Sergeant Major for the 25th Infantry Division.

      He is a graduate of the Primary Noncommissioned Officers Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advance Airborne Course, U.S. Army Basic Recruiters Course, U.S Army Recruiters Station Commanders Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officers Course, U.S. Army Drill Sergeants Course, First Sergeant Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Command Sergeants Major Course, and the National Defense University Keystone Course.

      CSM Leota has participated in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm with the 1st Battalion, 505th PIR as a Platoon Sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division; Operation Iraqi Freedom I-II with 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker) as the battalion Command Sergeant Major assigned to 4th Infantry Division and the 1st Marine Division; and Operation Enduring Freedom-V with 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th ID as the battalion Command Sergeant Major assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, 6th Marine and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit-Special Operations . He also served in OIF-V with 3rd Brigade, 25th ID as the brigade Command Sergeant Major; OIF 09-11 as the Multinational Division North and Task Force Lightning 25th ID Command Sergeant Major; and Operation New Dawn as the U.S. Division Center and 25th ID Command Sergeant Major. CSM Leota is currently the United States Army Pacific Command Sergeant Major.
