My name is Jason Flying Eagle Rodriguez. I enlisted in the US Army February 28, 1996,
where I have served as a Combat Engineer and a Mechanic. I am with the B Co 325th Brigade Support
Battalion stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and I am currently deployed to Afghanistan.
My first duty station was at Ft Hood, Texas assigned to HHC 299th
Engineer Battalion from April 1996 to April 2000. In July of 2001
I received orders to Ft Benning, GA and assigned to B Co 14th Field
Hospital as a Mechanic. We deployed to Mubarak Military City, Egypt,
in support of Operation Bright Star. Our mission was to provide medical
and maintenance support to other coalition forces to include the Egyptian
Army. Once we returned back to home station, I received orders for Korea
in April of 2002, where I was assigned to A Co. 304th Signal Battalion,
Camp Colbern. I was there for exactly one year.
Once that tour of duty was over I was ordered to report back
to Fort Hood, Texas in 2003 where I was assigned to A Co 21st
Combat Support Hospital. While stationed at Ft Hood we received orders
to Louisiana in support of Operation Hurricane Katrina to provide medical
care to the people of New Orleans. I was there for approximately 3 months.
It was overwhelming to see the devastation up close and personal that
Mother Nature can cause.
We then received orders to deploy to Camp Bucca, Iraq,
in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in April of 2006 to April 2007.
Our mission was to provide detainee health care since Camp Bucca was
one of the detention facilities for Al Qaida and the Taliban.
In April of 2008 it was time to head out to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii,
which is my current duty station. I am with the B Co 325th Brigade Support
Battalion.
In October of 2008 my unit was called to deploy to
Contingency Operation Base (COB) Speicher, Iraq. We provided security
for night Combat Patrols and maintenance support for the duration of
the deployment which was a year long. We redeployed and reset all
of our equipment and personnel to deploy to Afghanistan where I am currently at.
It has been rough on my family constantly being deployed but through prayer and support we have managed to be strong through the hard times. I want to say Thank You for those who have served in our armed forces, and our hearts are with those who we have lost in combat.
