Lipan Apache Veterans' Society
Mission Statement
|
Lipan Apache Tribe,
During their participation in World War II, two of our uncles discussed the
need to have a veterans' society among the Lipan Apache. For many years
the Lipan Apache have fought in many wars, including America's wars.
There were some traditions for warriors prior to war that were held and after.
During their time in Germany, they discussed the importance in keeping these
traditions alive and going. They even conducted songs for our warriors.
Some of our tribal members have also expressed the need to see this
society formed. I have asked these members to participate and they have agreed
to do so. The next step is for our members to participate. If you have a member(s)
in your family who have served or are currently serving and are registered
within the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas, please contact us.

Lipan Apache Veterans' Society
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Lipan Apache Veterans' Society is to recognize and honor our
Lipan Apache Veterans who served in all of the Armed Forces. To collect and preserve
past and current vital records and documentation that represents the military contributions
made by the Lipan Apache Veterans.
The need for a Lipan Apache Veterans Society
The Lipan Apache Veterans' Society was formed to ensure preservation of documentations
that record the military contributions and sacrifices made by the Lipan Apache Veterans.
The Lipan Apache Veterans Society has also determined a need to establish a communication
system between current active duty Lipan Apache military personnel and Lipan Apache
tribal members. This communication will foster and encourage tribal prayers and
appreciation from the tribal members to our active duty tribal members. The Lipan Apache
Veteran Society will also provide if necessary representation and assistance in dealing
with the Department of Veteran Affairs to ensure our veterans receive their proper benefits
to the fullest extent.
Sincerely,
Gloria Bumgart
