From Robert Soto, Vice Chairman
November 5th was a historic day for the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas.
Mr. Frank Ramirez, an esteemed Tribal elder who has worked tirelessly
on behalf of the Lipan Apache Tribe in the political realm, attended the
President's Tribal Nations Conference in Washington, D.C. as a personal
representative of Chairman Bernard F. Barcena, Jr. Mr. Ramirez was also
invited to attend, on behalf of Chairman Barcena, the President's Conference
with Tribal Leaders - an exclusive meeting restricted to the Chairmen of
recognized tribes. President Obama personally addressed the group and a
letter from Chairman Barcena was read into the official record of the event.
Our Tribe stood where we should rightfully be - shoulder to shoulder with all
other recognized American Indian tribes. We rejoice in that fact and give grateful
appreciation to Mr. Ramirez for his faithful service to the Lipan People.
